She's home

Brother!

I got up early this morning (well, 9am – I was out last night) and drove to Wimsew to collect her at last. She’s all mended, judging from the test swatch – no more missing stitches and loops of thread, ready for the next eight years.

(Right up until I get a new one…)

Doesn’t she look good back on the table? I feel so excited at being able to sew again, even if I can’t really do much for the next few weeks.

While I was in the shop I thought I’d help myself to some notions, because I haven’t done any purchasing for a while. I got some bias binding (lots), some red rick-rack, a handful of black buttons (only 10p the lot!), a bias binding maker, some self cover buttons, and some piping cord. The woman in there thought I was nuts, or she was – she laughed heartily every time I put something new on the table.

As for fabric, I was restrained. I made a note of some of the things they have, so that I know how much it is but I only came away with the black poly for my flamenco practice skirt, which I’m basing on a Betsy Ross pattern. Oh, and some fake fur for Charlie’s tunnel – Charlie being my gorgeous tortoiseshell cat. For some reason when I was in there I thought white was the best possible colour I could get. What a fool.
