Diary it

Only a couple of months to the knitting and stitching show! I go every year with my gorgeous friend Jo, and her mad friend Rachel, who is loud, and can be very rude about the exhibits if she feels they need it. We like to wander around and look for the most hideous thing there. It’s normally some awful cross stitch by numbers canvas – Elvis riding a unicorn, that sort of thing.

It is a great opportunity to buy lots of lovely, lovely fabrics. There’s usually a Japanese fabric stall there which only sells by mail order, which would be fine except they have no pictures on their website (which i have lost)*. I love their fabrics, so I try to stock up.

I’m considering going for two days this year but we’ll see how the Thursday visit goes. You may or may not know the exhaustion of fighting with old ladies who craft. They are vicious and have sharp elbows, and they will always beat you to the head of the queue. Always.

*Update: I found it – Euro Japan Links There are pictures! But it’s not an online shop as such.

oooh! That sounds good…I may end up booking tickets myself. The japanese fabric place your thinking of isn’t www.kitty-craft.com is it? I love that site, but have yet to order anything from it as I feel ovewhelmed by the loveliness of it all and so can’t choose!

No it isn’t that one, but goodness, thank you for telling me about it! The stall at K&S is run by an elderly couple – he’s japanese and she’s english. They import lots of nice cotton and kimono silk, and as if by magic I’ve found the link – I’ll update my post :)

oh how bad I am at technology! I had left another message and then gone to bed…and my husband later told me that I’d left the bit where you have to type in the security letters open on the desktop, so he’d cancelled it for me (helpful, but it would have been even more helpful if he’d typed in the letters so my post would have ended up here!). But anyway, had meant to say how wonderful the silks on the link looked, although don’t think they have understood the fabric obsessive’s need for copious amounts of clear pictures of each and every fabric in their possession…but I suppose that just means you do have to go along and see them in person!
